Normally a drink for summer time, but if it’s the right white wine, it can be enjoyed all year round. Here you will find all kinds of white wines, from popular Sauvignon Blanc to the lesser-known grapes of Catarratto, and a lot in between. Coming from over 400 collective members in the Cheiti area and not far from the coast with its cooling influences, this Pecorino is produced by some energetic and ambitious wine makers. This passion shines through in the wine which is Pale yellow with a green hue on its edges while the nose gives exotic fruits while being very fresh and clean. The palate is well rounded with a pleasant minerality and good acidity. This wine is thoroughly enjoyable and great value for what it is. This Chardonnay has crisp fresh lemon aromas with a touch of tropical fruit in the background - mango and peach. Complex layers of kiwi, apricot and grassy tones are present with a good weight and fantastic balancing zippy acidity. Coming from vineyards of Luján de Cuyo which sits at altitudes of around 1000m above sea level and combined with the intense sunlight experienced during the day and the cold night temperatures, the wines produced here show deep concentration of flavour and structure. This Torrontes is pale yellow in colour with hints of green. On the nose, there are tropical aromas such as pineapple with hints of jasmine flowers. It leaves a fresh and well balanced wine with great acidity and a long finish. Will go well with ceviche, grilled seafood dishes such as calamari or octopus, also very nice with chargrilled veg and salty cheeses such as feta or ricotta. 12.5% and Vegan
Alma Cersius is a collection of growers which cover three villages located to the South of Béziers in the region of Languedoc. This Chardonnay has hints of buttery notes with hazelnut and backed up with ripe tropical fruit and a hint of citrus. This has good complexity and is a rich and persistent wine.The finish good with a pleasant eucalyptus note at the end. Best on its own or paired with grilled seafood or poached fish. 13.5% and Vegan
Alma Cersius is a collection of growers which cover three villages located to the South of Béziers in the region of Languedoc. This Viognier gives delicate white floral aromas with nuances of white peach and apple. It's bright with refreshing acidity on the palate in a crisp style and stone fruit on the finish. Recently achieving carbon neutral status, the first in South Africa, Backsberg constantly strive to produce the highest quality grapes using natural and organic principles. The Western Cape, including Paarl, provides some of South Africa's best Chenin Blanc. Backsberg strives to capture the typical fruity flavours of this varietal; the lemony crispness and green apple fruit flavours, whilst retaining an array of aromatic characters. This fantastic example has ripe fruit, tempered by finely balanced acidity to give a mouth filling, yet refreshing palate, which has a lingering finish. The Morin family purchased the vineyard estate in 1966 and have passed it down from father to daughter. Today, Caroline Morin is the vibrant, young winemaker producing wines of outstanding quality. This Picpoul is gentle and refreshing with aromas of bright zesty lime and grapefruit. It is oft, elegant and rich in texture. A hint of peach and delicate floral notes appear on the palate alongside crisp, vibrant acidity on the finish. This is a cracking summer wine and is there to be enjoyed "responsibly" with friends or the local speciality, Oysters. It also goes well with chicken or goat’s cheese. 12.5% and Sustainable methods.
A Green Cellars best seller and for good reason! This NZ Sauvignon is superb. The French call it “Terroir” but we call it “Gravel and Loam”. Deep in the Wairau Valley, the vineyard is spread over two terraces - the upper 33 hectares are certified BioGro organic and the remaining terraces are sustainable. This wine is bright with lively gooseberry aromas alongside notes of fresh herbs and grassy tones. The palate is vibrant passion fruit, citrus and peach characters with top notes of melon and kiwi. Soft apple and white pear flavours balance a well-structured wine with zesty acidity and fantastic length and elegance. This Cher valley (tributary of the river Loire) estate wine is vibrant and crisp with lime aromas with a subtle leafy, herbaceous undertone. Fantastic weight on the palate in a rich, full style but still beautifully balanced. Classic grassy characters accompany zesty lime flavours leading to a hint of tropical fruit on the finish. The small and mighty label `Marras` is led by talented young winemaker, Martin Lamprecht. Having previously worked in the Rhône valley, amongst others, Martin brings fresh ideas to his current home in the Swartland, a melting pot for hot new talent in South Africa. in his words, "All I really do is take the grapes by their hands and guide them to where they want to be." The grapes for Los Tros Chenin Blanc are handpicked and treated to both tank and barrel fermentation, followed by 6 months ageing on the lees, making a very drinkable pear and stone-fruited wine, complemented by crisp freshness and a round mouthfeel with a refreshing finish. Dominio de Punctum was was founded in 2005 and is run by the Fernandez family where from the beginning they have focused on organic and biodynamic production. This Viognier has a beautiful pale gold in colour and is highly aromatic with perfumed, floral aromas on the nose. The palate is full of white blossom, magnolia and peach flavours, balanced perfectly with a refreshing, citric acidity. The balance of aromatic notes with the acidity leaves a clean and floral impression in the mouth. Lovely on its own or with Thai curries and lightly spiced dishes. 13.5% and Biodynamic, Vegan.
Picpoul de Pinet is produced just metres away from the oyster beds of the Bassin de Thau. This delicious example from Guillemarine Juilet has classic aromas of white flowers, stone fruit, and lemon floral notes. The palate is crisp, refreshing and full of flavour with pear, lemon and pineapple fruits mingled with floral notes. Cantine Torri is a small private estate of mature vines that is fully converted fully to organic wine production. Balance is normally Pecorino's weakness (like a lot of aromatic varieties) but we feel the Pecorino "4 20" is really special, demonstrating great poise, concentration and plain likability. This is a joy to drink and really versatile, it will handle gentle spiciness like curry leaves, lime and chilli. This Pecorino wine has an intense yellow colour with hints of fruit and white flowers. In the mouth it is fruity and spicy with good acidity and persistent fruitiness. Enjoy with Mediterranean inspired foods. 13% and Organic, Vegan.
Named after the indigenous Chono tribe, who were described by Darwin as ‘one of the bravest native tribes’, they were well known for having a passion for life and for nature. Chono wines are carefully selected, single vineyard varietals from some unique terroirs in Chile with the aim of producing wines which focus on quality over quantity. From the Leyda Valley in Chile this aromatic Sauvignon Blanc is lemon in colour with hints of green. On the nose, there are notes of citrus fruits and flowers together with subtle yet pleasant touches of fresh grass and grapefruit. The palate is fresh and crisp with gooseberry, lime and a long, refreshing finish. Perfect on its own or with shellfish, sushi or grilled fish. 13.5% and Sustainable, Vegan.
The estate nestles against the slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains, close to the Franschhoek River that the old rickety bridge used to cross and is led by the young winemaker, Mari Kotze. This Very slightly wooded Chenin has inviting aromas of pineapple, stone fruit and lime blossom with underlying floral notes. A full, rich palate of citrus and spice leads into a long fresh honeyed finish. This is very well made, not tto sweet and a great mouthfeel due to the oak. From a collection of growers in the Rías Baixas area where Albarińo thrives, comes this delightful wine that has bright zesty tropical fruit and gooseberry aromas with a citrus core supported by a lime and mineral structure. Soft citrus and a little peach appear on a well-rounded palate. Crisp green apple flavours alongside fresh lemon and an underlying hint of chalky minerality leading to a tangy finish with fantastic acidity. This is perfect when sitting in the sun with friends or enjoying with fresh fish. 12.5% and Vegan
This is a 5th generation winery which is situated in western Sicily in the hilly territory of Salemi. The name Musita stems from the name of an ancient mosque (one of the most prominent in Sicily at the time) which was located in the area. This Organic Catarratto, one of Sicily's indigenous grape varieties, is bright lemon in colour with grapefruit and blossom on the nose. The palate is fresh with a zesty with citrus acidity and notes of white peach, green apple, pear and a slight smoky undertone. Perfect with fresh seafood or spaghetti marinara. 13.5% and Organic, Vegan.
