Rickety Bridge Shiraz 2017

Producer: Rickety Bridge
The estate nestles against the slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains, close to the Franschhoek River that the old rickety bridge used to cross and is led by the young winemaker, Mari Kotze. This likeable Shiraz gives rich dark forest fruit with aromatic notes of spice, white pepper and dark chocolate. The palate is complex and shows elegance and a refined structure with balanced acidity, subtle oak and hints of clove and mulberry on the lingering finish. This great Shiraz is excellent with game, roast beef and spicy lamb dishes. 13.5% and Sustainable methods.

Pitchfork Shiraz 2018

Michael Kerrigan, a well know Australian winemaker, likens Margaret River's climate to "Bordeaux in a perfect year". This Pitchfork represents unprecedentedly good value considering that all of the grapes are grown in Margaret River - very unusual for a wine at the entry level from this region. This Shiraz is vibrant and youthful with ripe cherry and plum fruits on the nose, with smooth chocolaty influences. The palate displays good depth of fruit concentration, ripe sweet fruit fleshiness in the mid palate and a good flavour extension on the finish. Best with beef and venison. 14% and Organic methods.

Château Roc de Segur Bordeaux 2017

The Marquis de Ségur, Nicholas Alexandre (1697-1755) was once the largest owner of vineyards in Bordeaux (owning three First Growths: Latour, Lafite and Mouton, amongst others) which earned him the nickname “Prince of Vines” from King Louis XV. Today’s vineyards are owned by Gisèle and Daniel Vidal with their son Florian taking an active role in the winemaking process. This wine gives bright red cherry aromas in a soft style. The palate has rich berries, a little green stalk and a hint of black pepper. Supple, silky tannins pair well with gentle spice on the finish which pairs well with Roast duck, venison or pheasant. A great drop at a great price! 12.5% and Sustainable methods.
