Pegasus Bay Bel Canto Reilsing 2019

Producer: Pegasus Bay
A true family business, with all four sons and two spouses involved and managing various aspects. Upon release it is lemon-straw in colour and the bouquet is an enticing medley of citrus and stone fruit, interspersed with floral notes of elderflower and honeysuckle. Layered beneath there are also hints of ginger, honey and spice. The long hanging time and influence of botrytis has resulted in a wine that is rich and full bodied, with great structure and length. It is concentrated yet delicate, with invigorating acidity and a satisfyingly dry finish. Best enjoyed with spicy dishes or seafood? 13.5% and Sustainable.

Luigi Tacchino Gavi di Gavi Azienda Vitivinicola 2019

Piedmont is perfect wine country as the hills provide a natural amphitheatre which protects the vineyards from the northerly winds. Today brother and sister duo Alessio and Romina run the Tacchino estate and take great care to restrict yields, meaning this Gavi di Gavi DOCG is full of citrus fruit and tropical notes with crisp acidity and a lingering finish. Typically, Gavi di Gavi should be clean and crisp with a mineral finish. This 2019 version from Azienda Tacchino goes a step further with its apple and peach aromas and notes of fresh almond and seashell on the palate. A beautiful summer time wine enjoyed as an aperitif or with herby pasta sauces like pesto or white fish. 12.5% and Vegan.

Hartenberg Wine Estate Chardonnay 2017

As a leading member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative in South Africa, Hartenberg have established various initiatives to protect the 170 hectares of natural wetland on the farm, ensuring the health of the vines and a sustainable future for the land. Here grapes are hand picked in the early morning to retain maximum freshness. Hartenberg's Chardonnay harmonises the richness of oak and vanilla with light bursts of citrus fruit. Five different clones are grown in the vineyard and three strains of yeast in the winery bring complexity to this buttery wine, while lees stirring adds even more depth. This is a great wine for the price and one i drink regularly. Fantastic on its own or with seafood or roast chicken. 13.5% and Vegan, Sustainable methods.

Bodegas Navarrsotillo Qvinto Arrio Crianza 2016

It is rare in Rioja for producers to own all their own vines, let alone to farm them organically. Certified since 1995, this estate is run by brothers Luís, Ramón and Andrés. Having worked so hard on growing the fruit, there is a clear reluctance to use too much oak on the barrel-aged wines - a breath of fresh air in Rioja. The Qvinto Arrio Crianza is aged for at least 12 months in American and French oak barrels. Its ripe red fruity aromas combine perfectly with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and sweet spices. The palate is intense ripe black cherry, raspberry and toasted coconut which leads to a persistent finish. This is the perfect wine for a grilled steak. 14% and Organic, Vegan.

Dr Bürklin-Wolf's signature riesling is made from the estate's vineyards at the foothills of the Pfalz. This wine has a full, rich bouquet of ripe apple, pear and apricot. The stone fruit flavours continue on the palate with a refreshing streak of acidity and strong flavours of lime; the key characteristic of the riesling grape variety.
