A Green Cellars best seller and for good reason! This NZ Sauvignon is superb. The French call it “Terroir” but we call it “Gravel and Loam”. Deep in the Wairau Valley, the vineyard is spread over two terraces - the upper 33 hectares are certified BioGro organic and the remaining terraces are sustainable. This wine is bright with lively gooseberry aromas alongside notes of fresh herbs and grassy tones. The palate is vibrant passion fruit, citrus and peach characters with top notes of melon and kiwi. Soft apple and white pear flavours balance a well-structured wine with zesty acidity and fantastic length and elegance. Enjoy as an aperitif or with fresh, simply cooked seafood and light salads. 12.5% and Vegan, Sustainable.

Montecillo Rueda Verdejo 2019

Montecillo is the third oldest winery in Rioja but this wine comes from bush vines in the Rueda region. This Verdejo is expressive with great aromatic intensity and clear varietal personality, where aromas of freshly cut grass, apricot and lime stand out. Once aerated, a mineral note appears. On the palate, the fruit notes that appear on the nose return, in a wine that is enveloping, sweetly appetising and elegant. Is fresh has noticeable acidity with a glycerine texture and a deliciously long finish. I've tasted many Verdejo's but none a great as this. Drink alone with your parter or enjoy with pasta or rice dishes. 13% and Vegan.

Cedarberg Private Cellar Sauvignon Blanc 2019

A wild and remote terroir in South Africa, Cederberg climbs to over 1000 metres altitude above sea level and Cederberg Private Cellar is the only estate making wine here. The estate is surrounded by a very unique and dramatic landscape and conservation is fundamental at the farm and Cederberg is a committed member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative. As a result, the vines are by nature virtually organically grown.Early morning hand picking means that the grapes of retain as much freshness and flavour as possible giving you a punchy wine with gooseberries, asparagus and a hint of melon on the nose. A rigid acidity lifts the wine and makes it the perfect accompaniment to shellfish. 13.5% and Organic methods, Vegetarian.

Laibach Vineyards The Ladybird Bordeaux Blend 2016

Named in tribute to the Ladybirds that combat the presence of the mealybug and protect the vines, they used to be bought and released by the winery, but now after 14 years, the cycle goes naturally and there are enough around. These little creatures are a remarkable deterrent and avoid the need for the use of pesticides to eradicate pests. This wine is a Bordeaux influenced blend, and has a complex nose with hints of spice, chocolate and mocha. Good structure with plum and mineral complexity and a lingering finish. Showing graceful elegance, this wine over delivers on quality and showcases this estate as one of the leading lights in South Africa. Best with roast beef, meatballs in tomato sauce and pasta with bolognese sauce. 14% and Organic, Vegan.

De Rochebouet Brut Rosé NV

Jean-Edouard de Rochebouët is French born but lives in Argentina and has created this stunning sparkling using 56% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 4% of Malbec and making this in the same way as champagne (Méthode Champenoise). Just 5000 bottles were made making this a very rare find. Light, delicate and salmon-pink in colour, this really doesn't disappoint. Lovely summer fruit character throughout, raspberries and strawberries with nice biscuity notes on the nose, and a deliciously fine finish. These bubbles are brilliant and you won't find better value anywhere. Enjoy on its own or with seafood or salads. 12.5% and Vegan.

Domaine des Carabiniers Cotes du Rhone Sans Sulfite 2018

The name Carabiniers comes from when in the 14th century the region was guarded by Italian mounted guards - the Carabinieri. Magali and Fabien run the domaine today which was converted to organic viticulture in 1997 and then to biodynamic viticulture in 2009. They vinify with natural yeasts, without the use of chemicals or sulphur additions. Grapes are harvested at night to prevent oxidation and avoid the use of SO2 which keeps the freshness and protects the natural aromas of the grapes About as pure as wine can get, it is deep ruby in colour, the palate is elegant and well balanced with red fruits, spice notes and the softest of tannins. A true beauty! Best with grilled meats, mushroom risotto or cheeses. 12.5% and Biodynamic, Vegan.

This small winery operates the vineyard as in the old days with old methods without pesticides nor chemical fertilisers. During the vinification, they try to stay as natural as possible by minimising all that is added, mainly sulphites, with little or no fining, ageing on fine lees, and only one filtration at bottling. This stunning rosé with a beautiful pink salmon colour. The nose is white fruits and dried apricots with good intensity. The palate has a fruity creaminess which is full, fresh and has a great mouthfeel. The finish is dreamy and goes on forever. Enjoy as an aperitif or with seafood. 13% and Organic.

Chateau La Mascaronne Quat Saissons Rose 2020

Located in Côtes-de-Provence, La Mascaronne’s vines are planted on distinctive stone-walled terraces. Certified Agriculture Biologique since 2016, the estate is surrounded by oak and olive trees. This Château La Mascaronne Rosé 2020 has a luminous pink hue that makes it immediately identifiable as a Provence wine. Complex aromas of white peach, hawthorn flowers and citrus notes make for a beautifully refined nose, while the wine is suave, intensely and elegantly structured on the mouth, with a long, delicate and fresh finish. This beauty is worth every penny and is perfect on its own or with seafood salads. 13.5% and Organic

Vina Progreso Sangiovese 2017

Made by a brilliant young winemaker Gabriel Pisano with winemaking experience in South Africa, California, Chile and at Mas Doix in Priorat. The label is inspired by the bizarre dreams of his aunt Elisa who also illustrates and is almost as wild and exciting as the wine itself, so full of energy and expression. It's seductive and intense red colour with violet reflections. The concentrated aroma resembling cherry, strawberry, with a faintly floral violet character is complemented with light oak, vanilla and thyme. There is great density in the mouth, plus extra-long and ripe flavours of cherry, plum, strawberry, cinnamon and vanilla. Its strong and persistent, but balanced and would go well with pasta, pizza, stews, red meat or aged cheeses. 13% and Vegan.

Pancho Lavaque finds old, often badly neglected and remotely located vineyards in and around Cafayate, Salta ( home to some of the world's highest vineyards). Gradually he brings the vineyards back to full health, pays the growers a fair price for the grapes and makes magical, pure, fruit-driven wines with oodles with personality. From vines planted over 100 years ago, this rich, succulent Tannat is dark, almost black in colour. The nose is chocolate and liquorice and the palate is big, bold and packed with dark fruits and a finish that goes on forever. Say no more and enjoy with steak or roast beef! 14.5% and Vegan.

Bodega Luigi Bosca Gala 1 2017

Coming from the Luján de Cuyo region of Mendoza where all of the grapes are hand-picked, the viticultural team apply biodynamic principles across the estate, though they do not hold certification. This Gala 1 is Malbec dominated, supported by Tannat and Petit Verdot. The nose is attractive and elegant with black olives, liquorice and tobacco. It's compact, rounded and strong on the palate, with ripe tannins, showing notes of toffee and toasted coffee beans as a result of its oak ageing. A concentrated, modern, full-bodied and highly persistent wine which is harmonious and complex with a long finish. This is an outstanding blend and one of my favourites which can be enjoyed with many foods including meat empanadas, lamb confit and potato pie. Enjoy now or in the next few years. 14.5% and Vegan.

Álvaro Palacios Camins del Priorat 2019

Álvaro Palacios is one of a group of winemakers credited with putting Priorat back on the viticultural map. After studying winemaking in Bordeaux and a subsequent stint working at Château Petrus, Álvaro followed a group of intrepid winemakers, including René Barbier, to the rugged and forgotten region of Priorat. Black plum in colour with aromas of liquorice, currants and blackberries. Supple and velvety on the attack, the wine offers a gorgeous ripe blueberry, fig, and blackcurrant fruit accented by notes of dark roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate. Fine tannins emerge on the wine’s back-palate and the finish is long, spicy and liquorice tinged. This gorgeous wine pairs well with roasted vegetables, sausages and game stews. 14.5% and Organic

This small winery operates the vineyard as in the old days with old methods without pesticides nor chemical fertilisers. This outstanding rosé comes from low yielding vines which gives it great intensity. A pale salmon colour with a floral nose of white fruits and strawberry, the palate is smooth, creamy and full but in perfect balance. A true family business, with all four sons and two spouses involved and managing various aspects. Upon release it is lemon-straw in colour and the bouquet is an enticing medley of citrus and stone fruit, interspersed with floral notes of elderflower and honeysuckle. Layered beneath there are also hints of ginger, honey and spice. The long hanging time and influence of botrytis has resulted in a wine that is rich and full bodied, with great structure and length. It is concentrated yet delicate, with invigorating acidity and a satisfyingly dry finish. Best enjoyed with spicy dishes or seafood? 13.5% and Sustainable.

These lands are magical - they hide astonishing mysteries! When construction began to build the winery a dinosaur was unearthed and in tribute to this 75million year giant, the name Saurus was given in tribute! This stunning Malbec has a deep ruby red colour with a hint of violet. The combination of individually selected blocks of intense Malbec fermented in subtly toasted new oak barrels gives full ripened fruit aromas with strong plum and cassis gently backed with floral and spiced nuances. This is a firm, well structured wine with hints of vanilla and chocolate, a soft and full mouth feel with a long lingering finish. Wine critic Luca Maroni gave this wine a full 99 points and labelled it the best Italian red. Dark red and purplish in colour with dark fruits and vanilla on the nose. The winery is located in Tupungato (Balcony to the stars) and when we visited there about 10 years ago we were shown around the man in charge, Jean-Edouard. During the tasting he mentioned their goal was to make the best chardonnay in the world. It was genuinely outstanding then and has since improved. It's beautifully delicate and slightly dreamy with white fruits and citrus on the nose and gentle honey and vanilla from the barrel ageing. The finish goes on forever and oozes elegance. The winery is located in Tupungato (Balcony to the stars) and this Malbec comes from low yielding, 90 year old vines and the wine spends 14 months in new French oak. This Malbec has a nose of violets and blackberries with a hint of tobacco. It has excellent concentration and is beautifully voluptuous with blackberry jam and plumbs. The tannins give great structure, balance and surprising smoothness. It is both Intense and elegant and needs to be on your bucket list because the juice in this bottle is genuinely insane. This was my Malbec of 2020 by far, and I had a few! Drink now or wait a potential 15 years. Enjoy with Steak or Lamb dishes. 14.5% and Vegan

This family-owned domaine is now managed by the fourth generation of the Berthet Rayne family. This stunning Châteauneuf du Pape has rich, concentrated aromas of black cherries and cassis alongside a hint of oak. It's full-bodied and powerful in style and it's juicy, succulent red berry fruit flavours are dominant on the palate, whilst toasty oak characteristics and firm tannins provide structure and complexity. Similar quality wines will cost a lot more which makes this a stonker which you can drink on it's own or with slow cooked beef dishes or coq au vin. 14% and Organic

Domaine Terrebrune, Bandol Rosé 2019

Domaine Terrebrune was created by trained sommelier Georges Delille, who purchased the land in 1963 and has since grown the name to what it is today. Pale salmon in colour, the nose displays aromas of wild strawberry and pink grapefruit with a subtle hint of fennel. This is a textural, savoury and structured rosé; on the palate it shows grapefruit pith and kumquat on entry and then creamy rhubarb pie notes on mid-palate. The finish is refreshing, long and precise. Perfect for drinking now (and especially with a meal) but there is plenty of depth and focus here to allow for ageing. Thios Rosé is genuinely outstanding and is best enjoyed on its own or with pork or shellfish. 13% and Organic.

The team at Herència Altés is working tirelessly to put both their beloved region and its flagship grape variety (Grenache - or the locally styled Garnatxa) on the world map. The entire winery works to lower its impact on the environment, relying almost entirely on solar power and recycling rainfall for use throughout the facility. All of the vineyards are farmed according to organic practices, with some cuvees now certified organic. This sensational wine has penetrating aromas of wax, apricot, peach, spice and lemon peel. The palate shows impressive suppleness and richness, and is well-tempered by the delicate balance of oak. It is weighty, but in a very good way with a long and elegant finish that is super-refined and pure. Brilliant with Salmon tartar. 14% and Organic, Vegan.

The winery of Castello Poggiarello is located in central Tuscany near Siena and is committed to organic and sustainable wine growing. This is a beautiful Tuscan red that rivals Super-Tuscans but for far less. This Cab Franc has red cherries, blackberries and sweet plums on the nose. It's medium bodied but full flavoured with silky soft tannins and a hint of oak. The finish goes on forever. Best enjoyed with red meats or pastas. 14% and Organic.

Castello Tricerchi Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015

Castello Tricerchi uses only a tiny portion of their estate to cultivate Sangiovese Grosso, the vines which produce Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. The vines are almost exclusively north facing which allows for uniform ripening. The cultivation methods are based on organic principles and respect for the intimate relationship between man and nature. This Brunello is deep ruby red in colour and the nose is red cherry with a little spice and notes of tobacco. This leads to a warm and smooth wine with fine tannins and a full body. Complex, elegant and harmonious, this wine has a balanced and long finish and can do with being opened a couple of hours before enjoying with meats or ripe cheeses. 14% and Organic methods.
