Hartenberg Wine Estate

Hartenberg is located in the Bottelary Hills in the Stellenbosch region, where the Mediterranean climate, cool breezes channelled down the valley from the ocean, and poor gravelly soils are great for grape growing. As a leading member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative in South Africa, they have established various initiatives to protect the 170 hectares of natural wetland on the farm, ensuring the health of the vines and a sustainable future for the land.

Here grapes are hand picked in the early morning to retain maximum freshness. Hartenberg's Chardonnay harmonises the richness of oak and vanilla with light bursts of citrus fruit. Five different clones are grown in the vineyard and three strains of yeast in the winery bring complexity to this buttery wine, while lees stirring adds even more depth. This is a great wine for the price and one i drink regularly. Fantastic on its own or with seafood or roast chicken. 13.5% and Vegan, Sustainable methods.
